Aunt Demmy's Baby / Strawflower

Good Morning Sunshine, I give all praises to God!  I was going through some old files and came across a couple of cross stitch pictures (Aunt Demmy's Baby / Strawflower) that I had stitched/framed and sold on Ebay so many years ago.  I am quite sure these two pieces are being displayed in someone's home or maybe an art museum.

Until next time, have a Beautiful Day!

Baskets by Mary Jane, Designs O'Bryan

I have cross stitched another great design by Designs O'Bryan.  This piece is called Baskets by Mary Jane. I wonder if Mary Jane is an actual person.  When I posted this piece, I was immediately informed that these ladies are in Charleston, South Carolina and still making sweetwater grass baskets.  This chart was copyrighted 1977 and if I had to say is Mary Jane is a real person, my guess would be yes!

Happy Monday

Hi Tywanna here!  Stitched and framed by me, this piece is called Strawflower by Designs O'Bryan.
I donated this piece to be auctioned off at the Hartsfield Jeffries Family Reunion held July 2014. Guess who won......, my Aunt Margie.  This piece was meant to stay within the immediate family.

Next piece I am cross stitching is Baskets by Mary Jane.  Of course this piece is by Designs O'Bryan. I love their charts...., so if you have any copies that you would love to sell, send me a picture at josie_9901@yahoo.com.  Here is a peek:

Strawflower

I finished Strawflower and framed it myself.  I know the person that wins this picture is going to treasure it for many years to come or so I hope.  This is my second time cross stitching this piece and the third time will be for me.

Next project working on is for the NC State Fair, titled Clowning Around.

Strawflower

I added the finishing touches on Strawflower.  Next, I will shop around for a particular frame to go with the picture.

My next project is 1865 Freedom.

Strawflower

Today is a good day to lay in bed...., rain for some reason makes me want to take a snooze.  On the stitching side of things, I am coming right along on Strawflower.  Once completed, I will shop around for the perfect frame.  Thank you God for giving me this talent to make art.

TGIF, I am so ready for the weekend.  Time to relax, take more time out for myself and enjoy life.  While I am doing all those things, I will be stitching on Strawflower.  After two days of not stitching, I started back on this piece last night. Take a look

I love how this piece is coming along and I even love the colors.  I even love this woman with her hand on her hip.  As a child growing up, I remember being around ladies like this.  These women took no mess, handled their business and kept it moving.

Once I finish this project, I am trying to decide on what to cross stitch next.  Maybe I will do a lil' crown since the NC State Fair is right around the corner or maybe I will do a tribute to Ford.

WIP, Strawflower

I have started on another beautiful cross stitch called Strawflower.  I stitched and framed this piece many years ago that I cannot remember the year and sold it on Ebay.  This one will be given out as a raffle at our family reunion.

Tuesday, May 27, 2014

I finally finished Sitting Happily Together.  This is my 2nd cross stitch conversion to African American and what a cute face.

Next, I am going to begin stitching Strawflower, Designs O'Bryan, for the family reunion to raffle as a prize.

Lil' Postman

Hi Tywanna here and TGIF!

It is so cold in Zebulon, North Carolina.  While it is cold outside, I have plenty of time to cross stitch inside.  I am taking a Hummel pattern and converting the colors to African-American, my first chart.  This pattern is turning out toooooo cute and he is adorable.

Take a peek......

Doc Hudson from the Cars Movie

I have finished Doc Hudson and will be mailing it out today to be one of the cross stitch pieces applied to Thomas R's quilt for Cole's Quilt.  I loved seeing this piece come alive on the fabric.  It came out better than I thought.  I hope Thomas and his family enjoy his special quilt for years to come.  The joy of giving to a cause like this is a blessing for me.

It is so funny, my significant other "Marv" saw a picture of this piece on my Facebook page and said "Tywanna, Doc Hudson is not straight."  I had to chuckle and told him the words were straight, it is because of the way I had the fabric laying when I took the picture.

Come back to check out my other stitching project I am working on.  Love some stitching!

Let It Snow, Let It Snow, Let It Snow

And I hope it is gone.  Goodbye Snow!  I enjoyed my three days off, lounging around, watching tv and cross stitching Doc Hudson.  This piece is turning out quite beautifully.

I believe Doc Hudson is a Chevy!

Doc Hudson

It is a cold rainy day in Zebulon North Carolina.  Over the weekend I stitched on Doc Hudson.  1/2 done and another 1/2 to finish.

Doc Hudson for Thomas R.

I am midway with Doc Hudson for Thomas R.  Since God has given me the gift of cross stitching, I love to give back to different organizations or nonprofit groups, such as Cole's Quilt (providing cross stitch quilts of love to children with spinal muscular atrophy).

Wintry Mix

Here in North Carolina we had a wintry mix last week that lingered around for one day.

Now our forecast for North Carolina is calling for a wintry blast today at 12:00 noon 2-4 inches.  Be nice if Mother Nature has a change of heart.

Cattleya's baby tassel hat

Hi, Tywanna here.  I finished my granddaughter's, Cattleya, hat.  I know she is going to look cute it in.

Thursday, January 23, 2014

On a cold chilly morning there is nothing like hot homemade biscuits, fat back, grandma molasses with butter, and a cup of coffee.  I even boiled me some eggs to go with my breakfast.  I love making biscuits and am always trying to find a great biscuit recipe.  These biscuits were made of two ingredients (self rising flour and whipping cream).  Delicious......

Jonquil

My Jonquil, finished and have been placed in the mail to be made into a lovely quilt along with other cross stitched flowers for a sick and shut-in person.

Jonquil is the flower for March.  Maybe one day, I will do all twelve flowers.

Next project I am working on is Doc Hudson from the Cars movie.

Thursday, January 16, 2014

Here in Zebulon, North Carolina we got some snow furries.  It was awesome coming down, but I am glad that it did not stick and is not sticking around (yahoo).  I worked on my Jonquil and have one small section to finish.  Loving this piece!

I stitched up the Star of David and gave it as a Christmas gift to a family member along with the butterfly dishcloth.  Hope she has many years of washing dishes with them both.  The other dishcloth, log cabin, was an experiment and looks more like a gun.  I have so many small skeins of leftover yarns that knitting log cabins will come in handy.

Starting 2014 off with a running leap.  Loving God, loving me, loving my partner Marv and all my immediate family.  My last stitched project of 2013 was Nativity.  If you are interested in cross stitching this piece, you can find it in the Shoo Fly Pie leaflet by Cross My Heart.

For 2014, Marv and I would like to wish everyone peace and goodwill.  Enjoy your Thursday!
